Our Services

Hemming / Alterations: We offer a wide range of services, including hemming, minor repairs such as replacing a zipper, small alterations, and custom sewing for specialty items. Inquire within for your sewing needs.

Patternmaking: We draft our own patterns and are able to work from a picture.

Needlework: We offer custom knitting to include afghans, coverlets, sweaters, and capes. We also crochet.

Specialty Dresses: We sew cape dresses and a wide variety of prayer veilings. Prayer veilings are usually special ordered.

Bridal: We do bridal gowns on a first come, first served basis and need several months to work on such items.

Period Sewing: We do a wide variety of period garments and costumes from many different eras. We are experienced in period correct sewing and do extensive research to complete such projects.

Our Policies

Returns: Returns must be made within 15 days. There are no returns on custom orders so please be sure you are ordering exactly what you want. We will correct any errors that we have made at no charge to you.

Cancellations: If your order is cancelled by Sew Ladylike, you are allotted 15 days to return any garments / fabric in your possession. We have never cancelled an order before and only will do so under rare circumstances beyond our control. If you cancel an order before work has been started, there is a 15% cancellation fee. If you cancel an order after work has been started there is a 50% cancellation fee.

Alterations: We do not do major alterations on clothing you bring into the shop. We will however do minor alterations such as hemming skirts, pants, or adjusting a sleeve if time permits. On clothing we create from our custom drafted patterns, alterations are a part of the process. If you choose to bring to us a store bought pattern, any alterations to that pattern will incur an additional charge.

About Custom Garments: At our discretion we may do a custom dress based on a customer's picture or design idea. We do not sew men's clothing. We will not do any garment that we feel is immodest or inappropriate for the wearer. We photograph all of our work , including custom designs and reserve the right to use those photographs for advertising purposes.

Weddings: We are generally quite busy with very little downtime, therefore please allow at least two months prior to your wedding for custom garments to be made. Thanks.
