1950's Exhibit
"Feminine Flair" |
The 1950's Feminine Flair Fashion Exhibit is now on display at Sew Ladylike. The exhibit features several dresses from the 1950's era reminiscent of teenage bobby soxers, rockabilly dancing styles, and the model housewife.
Highlights of the exhibit include the Ice Cream Social Party Dress in peach plaid with fabric bows accentuating the center front. This dress, perfect for dancing, offers a full circular swing skirt. As an added touch, it has a sash belt made of matching fabric.

Another focal point is the black and white check wool business suit modeling Dior's "New Look" which broke away from the tight restrictions of 1940's war time era fashions, and ushered in the new look of femininity and extravagance.
The exhibit is free to all historical fashion enthusiasts and can be seen on location at Sew Ladylike, 400 Chestnut St. Mifflinburg, PA 17844. Sew Ladylike provides an array of sewing services ranging from hemming, to dressmaking, and antique clothing reproduction. Notions, ready to wear ladies apparel, and sewing patterns are also available.
